Dear Editor,

Hollister – you have done it again!

Wednesday night, we held the sixth annual Relay For Life Kick-Off Mixer at Paine’s Restaurant. We now have 31 teams signed up and ready to walk cancer right out of our town!

The best part is that it is only April, leaving us a little under 4 months to meet our goal of 65 teams, raising $175,000 and celebrating 150 survivors.

We need you, the community, to get involved. The American Cancer Society tells us “It’s about a community that takes up the fight.” Well, Hollister is ready to fight.

Get involved by forming a team, sponsoring, purchasing luminary bags or registering as a survivor. The 2003 Relay For Life was able to raise $163,672.31 – our best year ever. The 2004 Relay For Life will be held at San Benito High School on Andy Hardin Field. The event begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6 and continues for 24 hours until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7.

Please call 800-ACS-2345 or visit our Web site at www.cancer.org for more information.
