HDA tri-trip dinner
The Hollister Downtown Association will hold a drive-thru tri-tip barbecue dinner March 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $30 for a whole tri tip, salad and a loaf of French bread, available for presale only. Tickets are available at Hope Services, Inc.; Muenzer’s; Penny Wise Drugs; Santa Barbara Bank and Trust; San Benito Bene; She’s; Wells Fargo Bank; and the HDA office at 455 San Benito St., Ste. 21. The fundraiser is the first planned to help fill a funding gap of $65,000 left by the loss of redevelopment agency funding. Lunch with Leaders
The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will host a Lunch with Leaders session March 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, 3800 Airline Hwy. Comedy for Color Guard
Comedian Khris Francis will perform a dinner comedy show March 24, at the Vault, 425 San Benito St., with no host bar at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 each and will benefit the San Benito High School Color Guard. The event is for people 21 and older.
Spring Grove PTO event
Spring Grove School PTO presents the 8th Annual Wine and Roses Benefit March 23, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the San Juan Oaks Golf and Country Club. Tickets are $40 each. The event will feature a casino, dinner, dancing, auction, wine tasting and reverse raffle.
‘High School Musical’
San Benito High School’s drama department will perform Disney’s “High School Musical,” March 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31, at 7 p.m., in the school’s auditorium. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the SBHS student payment center. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens or $6 for SBHS students with an ASB card and children under 5. All tickets purchased at the door will be $8.
Save the Music pancakes
Mr. Ostenson’s Save the Music Drive and the R.O. Hardin PTO will host a pancake breakfast March 24, from 8 to 11 a.m., in the R.O. Hardin multipurpose room, 881 Line St. Tickets can be purchased the week prior to each event date at the school or at the door the day of the event. The March 24 will be the Scarlet Regiment band. The Youth Alliance will host its 2012 Community Hero Dinner March 30, at 6:30 p.m. at San Juan Oaks. The fundraiser will support Youth Alliance free after school programs, youth counseling and outreach, visual and performing arts programs and more. Pacheco State Park will celebrate the 9th annual Wildflower Day March 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visitors will be able to go to tables staffed by local volunteers who will teach about the native plants and wildlife in the area. There will be free arts and crafts for children. The event includes a birding walk at 9:30 a.m. and two nature hikes at 10 a.m. and noon. The hikes are open to a limited number of visitors on a first come first served basis. Visitors can also take self-guided tours. There will be a picnic lunch available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle will be charged. Additional hikes are scheduled every Saturday in April, at 9 a.m., for four to seven hours, with retired Pacheco State Park Ranger David Milam for a strenuous hike. At 10 a.m., naturalist Jennifer Morgan will take guests on a two-mile moderate hike. Both will discuss Native American and pioneer use of plants.
