School employee from Hollister accused of sexual assault

Danny Rodriguez
Hollister resident and Christopher High football coach Danny Rodriguez, 41, was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a minor female at Coyote Lake County Park.
Deputies alleged in a press statement they were notified of a sexual assault that occurred on Nov. 8 at 8:30 p.m. at Coyote Reservoir Road/Coyote Lake County Park.
Rodriguez, from Hollister, had lived with the victim’s family in the past and didn’t meet her at the school, according to the press release. Authorities in the statement alleged he touched the victim several times in a sexual manner.
Rodriguez was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of contacting a minor with intent to commit sexual acts, sexual battery, and annoying and molesting a minor.
School Superintendent Deborah Flores sent a letter home with students explaining that the district was cooperating with law enforcement and couldn’t say much more because of the pending investigation. Rodriguez has been placed on leave pending the outcome.
She said Rodriguez, like all employees, was fingerprinted and had his background checked before he was hired.
“I want to reassure you that the safety and security of our students is our highest priority,” she wrote.
