Alexander James Naccarato, Sr., was born in Cherokee, KS, in 1942, where he lived for his first five years. At that time, he moved with his parents to Hollister, CA where he spent the next 40 years.
In 1962, he married Jean Winkle and moved to the Cienega Valley Winkle Ranch where they raised their three sons.
Alex designed and built the house that Harlan, Alfred and Eva Harlan Winkle gave Alex and Jean to raise their family. Jean and Alex later moved to Knights Ferry in 1998, where Alex found another home away from home at the 50’s Roadhouse with his friends each night. They gave him great comfort as he battled his illness until he passed away on December 31, 2015, at the age of 73.
Alex was involved in many things over the course of his life. He worked in construction for Mark Nicholson Inc. and as a carpenter.
At 38, Alex then started ranching full time. He and Jean were raising beef cows when Alex’s friend, Benny Brown, asked Alex if he wanted to go partners on 14 head of Oscar’s Daughters. The seeds of Naccarato Bucking Bulls had been planted.
Alex was the first bucking bull breeder from the West Coast to start a breeding program for bucking bulls. He’s had numerous top ranking bulls at the National Finals Rodeo and the Professional Bull Riders Finals.
Alex served on the Cienega School Board and San Benito County Fair Board. He served as the Vice-President of the San Benito County Cattlemen’s Association and President of the California High School Rodeo Association District 4. Alex produced the Hollister Fiesta Rodeo.
Alex is survived by his wife, Jean, and sons. Jim (Mary), Scott (Audra), and Alex (Laura). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt, Carmelita, Tristan, Manuel, Waylon Naccarato and Ashley Bonesio and Garrett and Tucker Bourdet.
