Sheriff Darren Thompson will attend a marijuana training conference for law enforcement” in Denver next month after a county board approval Tuesday.
County supervisors Tuesday on the consent agenda OK’d a $2,000 allocation from the sheriff’s office training budget for Thompson to attend the University of Denver conference March 16-18. According to an agenda report for the Tuesday meeting, many police chiefs and sheriffs will attend.
The name of the conference is Colorado Two Years Later—Marijuana Training Conference for Law Enforcement. The agenda report notes the gathering has been deemed as “very beneficial in light of the issues California will be facing.”
Colorado in 2014 started allowing legal, recreational use of marijuana. California voters in November could decide to legalize recreational pot as well.
