Hollister police named best agency in nation by WeTip

The Hollister Police Department has been named National Police Department of the Year by the WeTip organization that runs anonymous tip lines.
The police department offered gratitude in a statement that mentioned how the agency will receive the award at the 43rd annual National Training Conference in Pittsburgh next month.
According to the statement on the award:
WeTip will hold its 43rd Annual National Training Conference and will present the Hollister Police Department with an award, recognizing the agency as the 2016 National Police Department of the Year.
Since 1972, WeTip has been an Anonymous Crime Reporting resource for citizens and a tool to aid law enforcement. WeTip is committed to providing the most effective anonymous citizens crime reporting system in the nation. WeTip promises and insures absolute anonymity, not just confidentiality.
WeTip serves all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and portions of Canada and Mexico. Chief Executive Officer of WeTip Inc., Susan Aguilar stated, “WeTip is very proud of the partnership we have with Hollister Police Department and Chief Westrick. Hollister Police Department strives to provide a safe community for their residents and we value that WeTip is a part of the solution in their city. I am honored to recognize their department with WeTip’s 2016 Police Department of the Year Award and we look forward to many more years of our collaborative crime fighting partnership.” Since 2008 the Hollister Police Department has partnered with WeTip to make the hotlines available to facilitate the anonymous tips.
“I am very proud of our community and its police department’s partnership to report/reduce crime in Hollister. WeTip is an extension of that partnership and is a great tool in our overall community policing strategy. WeTip provides hotlines in all languages for completely anonymous crime tips for those citizens that want to protect their identity. I want to thank the residents of the City of Hollister and of course the hard working employees of the Hollister Police Department and the City of Hollister for recognizing each day that working together we can accomplish much more toward our common goal of making Hollister the greatest and safest city in California. It also helps us, to have our great partnerships with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, Probation Department and District Attorney’s Office.” said Chief Westrick.
