SVGives coming to county in May

Volunteer advocates clockwise from left, Katrina Zapata, Nicole Avila, Esther Curtice, Toni Rinde and Michael Ulibarri listened to a speaker during a training session in 2014 to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate at the Community Foundation.

On May 3, San Benito County organizations plan to come together for Silicon Valley Gives.
The Community Foundation for San Benito County invites residents to help raise money for local nonprofits, starting at midnight and continuing for a 24-hour period through a single online donation platform, according to the nonprofit organization.
For the past two years, SVGives has inspired our local community to support philanthropic causes and provided a simple way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most. SVGives has encouraged ordinary people to take action, according to the foundation, and last year donors gifted more than $206,000 to 31 nonprofits in San Benito County.
In 2016, donations made directly to a nonprofit Permanent Endowment Fund held by the Community Foundation will be eligible to receive matching funds from a $25,000 anonymous gift. On May 3, donors can double their gifts, helping local nonprofits to build a “savings” account for sustainability into the future.
Check this list to see if your favorite local nonprofit is eligible to receive matching funds for their permanent endowment:
