17, 2004. He was 57.
Allen J. Day Sr. passed away suddenly at his home Monday, May 17, 2004. He was 57.

Mr. Day was born and raised in Baton Rouge, La. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served for ten years during the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Constellation and he received the “Sailor of the Year” on the USS Coral Sea. He was a longtime machinist by trade. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge of Gilroy and an avid San Francisco 49er and Giants fan. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren more than anything.

He is survived by his wife, Marie L. Day, of Gilroy; his sons and daughters, Allen J. Day Jr. of Gilroy, Amy Cortez and her husband, Ricardo, of Gilroy and Kathryn Day of Gilroy; grandchildren Daniel, Rebecca and James Cortez of Gilroy and Sara Day of Morgan Hill; son of Frances Day of Baton Rouge, La.; his brothers and sisters Harry Eugene Day (Kathy), Earlene Landry (Tommy), Sandra Guessfield, Connie Evans (Kenny), Gwen Williams (Daryl), Oma Ringe (Mike), Donald Day (Melanie), Gail Pusateri (Phil), Gary Day (Nina), all of Louisiana; sister-in-law of Linda Clausen (Kurt) of Mountain View and Jeanne Levratto of Las Vegas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Rarick Day.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy. Visitation is Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would appreciate donations to the American Diabetes Society.
