The San Benito County Gang Prevention Policy Committee members spent some time at their meeting last Wednesday to thank the three jurisdictions that approved daytime and nighttime curfews that will allow across the board enforcement in Hollister, San Juan Bautista and San Benito County.
Hollister City Council members voted unanimously Monday to support the Westside Promise Neighborhood grant application – after three of them previously expressed concerns about the application at a July 2 meeting – which could inject a half-million dollars toward fixing the economically distressed area of the city.
Concerns expressed by San Benito Health Foundation officials – over a similar outside agency staking territory here by partnering on a neighborhood improvement grant application – have ended up raising serious questions about the local organization itself.
When Jennifer Stiers started working with the 47 minors who are currently enrolled in the juvenile work service program, she had each of them fill out a worksheet about themselves. The students range in age from 11 to 18 and have been convicted of minor misdemeanors up to felonies. They answered questions about what they love, what they fear, what they regret and what they appreciate.
