Marilyn J. Vaccarezza September 28, 1933 – September 28, 2012

Marilyn was born and raised in San Juan Bautista. She was a 4-H Leader in cooking, a Cub Scout Leader, and a leader for the Brownies. She also helped her children get their animals ready for the County Fair in 4-H and F.F.A. She loved to make desserts especially for potlucks, picnics, parties or just for her family.

As a teenager she ran for Fiesta Rodeo Queen in San Juan Bautista and came in second. Her hobbies included doing crewel work, craft projects, gardening and flower arrangements. She entered her arrangements in the County Fair where she won many first place ribbons and also took home the Sweepstakes Vase.

She belonged to the Old Mission San Juan Bautista and Mission Guild for many years before moving to Hollister.

In Hollister, she became a member of Immaculate Conception Church at Tres Pinos. She also joined the Altar Society and served as Vice President for a few years.

For many years she has been writing to a Pen-Pal in Holland. She met her when she was fourteen years old. They met when she was a Girl Scout and her troop sent care packages overseas. They have been writing to each other for over 50 years.

Marilyn enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth of 61 years; children Linda Vaccarezza, and Ron (Bernadette) Vaccarezza of Hollister; Don (Sheila) Vaccarezza of Salinas, Robert (Audra) Vaccarezza of Greenfield, Sandi (Antone) Picchetti and Steven (fiancee Dana) Vaccarezza of Twain Harte, and Kendra (Steve) Prosser of Sonora; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
