Bonnie L. Bates
Bonnie L. Bates was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She passed in her Gilroy, CA home, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her late husband Donald Bates. She is survived by her four children: Cheryl (Jay), Jimmy (Judy), Jeannine, David (Norma), her non biological sons: Jeff (Warsi), Dan (Fran), her devoted granddaughter Tammy, as well as grandchildren: Tracy (Terry) and Travis. She was preceded in death by her grandson Ken. She is survived by loved great-grandchildren: Maranda, Magen, Shaina, Hannah, Rebecca, and the apple of her eye, great-great-grandson Julius. Surviving four generations of children and extended family and friends will miss her dearly.
Linda Gale Gomes-Watts
Linda Gale Gomes-Watts passed away August 22, 2007. She is survived by her husband Skip Watts; children, Joe Keller and Marguerite Murphy; mother Marguerite Gomes; sister of Lillian Hill and Bobby Gomes; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Gomes.
Irene Laursen
Irene Laursen, a Gilroy resident since 1959, died December 13th at Santa Theresa Hospital in San Jose. Born Irene Sylvia Peters, she was 11th of 12 children in rural northwestern Nebraska. Irene had flowing red hair, a love of dancing, and a playful wit. She married fellow Nebraskan, Rudy Laursen, in 1936. The couple's three children were all born in Nebraska; Lorrie Baker of Oakland, Phill Laursen of Gilroy, and Byron Laursen of Santa Ynez. A shy personality, yet remarkably determined, Irene survived by 35 years the loss of her beloved Rudy. A member of Saint Mary's Parish, Irene received last rites before her passing. She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Lisa, Jennifer, and Kristin Laursen of San Francisco, and by devoted daughters-in-law, Kathy Laursen and Theresa Volpe Laursen.
Delores Lola Cesena
Lola passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Frank & Ruth Lopez, wife of Oscar Cesena of Gilroy, mother of Terry Cesena, David Cesena & Mark Cesena, all of Gilroy and Alice Aguayo of San Luis, Arizona, grandmother of Deanna Cesena of Gilroy and Miguel, Oscar and Laura Aguayo all of San Luis, great-grandmother of Isaac James Padraza of Gilroy, sister of Chelo Gonzalez, Rosa Ortega, Gloria Lopez, Tony Lopez, Raymond Lopez, all of Gilroy, Frank Lopez of Hollister and Petra Larsen of Palmdale, CA.

A memorial Mass will take place Saturday Dec. 5, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., at St. Catherine's Church, 17400 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill. A celebration of Mark's life will follow at the family home. Esperanza Gonzales Morales
Born in Jerome, Arizona on June 29, 1918, Esperanza passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 6, 2007, with all of her children at her bedside. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since the late 1940's, when she and her late husband Daniel established their home in the Gilroy area. She was a giving, humble, loving and spiritual person who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her children's involvement in their respective communities was acknowledged in 1993 when the family was chosen as the Hispanic Family of The Year for Santa Clara County.
Nelda Sue Felix
Born in Portsmouth, VA April 1943, Nelda passed away March 2008 in St. Louise Regional Hospital after fighting cancer here in Gilroy with family by her side. She leaves behind her surviving mother Edith M. Thorne, A half sister Sharon in Maine, two daughters Edith L. Nieto, husband Arthur, Annissa Augusto and husband Joe, two granddaughters Annissa and Alyssa Martinez, Alexander Felix and family, and also aunts and cousins in Portsmouth, Va. She was a loving, kind hearted person who touched the lives of many. She will forever be loved and missed. Nelda is alive and well with Christ and is doing what she always wanted to do.
John Pershing Skinner
John Pershing Skinner was born June 3, 1919 in Nampa, Idaho. He died after suffering with Parkinson's disease on July 16, 2008, surrounded by his family. John is survived by his wife, Helen and their two children, Margaret of Oakland and John Jr. of Palo Alto. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren: Kailyn McCord, Nathaniel Skinner and John McCord.
