Ismael Ramos

On July 5, Hollister Police Officers arrested Ismael Ramos, 36, after a vehicle burglary investigation revealed warrants for his arrest and narcotics on his person.

At about 10:14 a.m., Hollister Police Officer Ray Celano responded to Rovella’s Gym, located on Industrial Drive, for a report of a vehicle burglary. The victim reported items were taken from her car after a window was smashed. One of the items taken was her wallet with credit cards. The victim was able to provide information to police that her cards had already been used or attempted to be used in businesses in Hollister and the surrounding areas.

Celano was able to develop information that led him to Ismael Ramos as the possible suspect. A “Be on the lookout” alert was issued for Ramos and the vehicle he was driving. At approximately 1:50 p.m. Officer Rudy Rodriguez located the suspect’s vehicle on the 800 block of Line Street. Officers searched an apartment complex and were able to find Ramos in the area.

Police discovered Ramos had two warrants for his arrest. One warrant was for driving on a suspended license and the other was for possession of stolen property and evading police. Officers also discovered Ramos had in his possession what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine. Officers later booked Ramos into the San Benito County Jail for the warrants and possession of controlled substance.

This case is still under active investigation and additional charges involving the vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property are still pending.
