The Hollister Police Department is teaming up with Turning Wheels for Kids to provide local children with donated bicycles this holiday season.

Turning Wheels for Kids is a San Jose-based nonprofit charity group that works to provide bikes to children in order to encourage exercise, outdoor activity and independence. The group has teamed up with the local police department for the past three years. The relationship has resulted in over 300 local kids in Hollister and San Benito County receiving new bicycles and helmets.

As the program has grown, so have the needs for Turning Wheels for Kids. This year, the group is in need of both monetary donations and/or donated silent auction and raffle items by December 1 at 5 p.m.

Other items needed include new bicycles (unassembled or assembled, any size) and bicycle helmets (any size).

Any received auction and raffle items will be delivered to the silent auction site in San Jose on December 2.

The Hollister Police Department will begin accepting auction items the week of November 20 in the police department lobby located at 395 Apollo Court in Hollister during regular business hours.

Those wishing to make a monetary donation online can do so at https://turningwheelsforkids.org/donate/. All donations are tax deductible.
