The trapped victim waits to be freed from the car after an accident caused the car to roll over at the intersection of Sally and Haydon Streets Thursday afternoon.

A woman was injured Thursday in a rollover accident involving two sport utility vehicles at the intersection of Sally and Haydon streets.

The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. in the residential neighborhood near downtown.

A black GMC Yukon struck a white Ford Explorer, which rolled over on the east side of Haydon Street. The Explorer rolled and landed on its wheels, while the injured woman was a passenger in the vehicle.

Firefighters had to extricate her because of damage to the windshield area and passenger side. They placed her on the nearby grass to stabilize her before transporting the woman to Hazel Hawkins Hospital.

The extent of the injuries and information on others involved were not immediately clear.

Dozens of neighbors watched as the Hollister Fire Department, Hollister Police Department and AMR responded. Traffic was blocked off on Haydon Street east of the intersection.
