San Francisco 49er and Oakland Raider fans will have a chance to see players face off on Friday night.
No, it is not the big preseason football game between the teams. Players from both teams will be on the San Benito High School basketball court to take on officers of the Hollister police force to raise money for the many local programs that the Police Officer’s Association supports.
The third annual event always provides a time of fun and laughs for the whole family. Whenever football players get on the basketball court there are sure to be many wild antics. And don’t be surprised if they don’t shoot their own free throws.
During the intermission, players will be signing free autographs and taking pictures with fans. There will be a raffle for signed memorabilia as well.
Those scheduled to attend are Rod Martin, Cliff Branch and Mervyn Fernandez from the Raiders and Eason Ramson and Dana McLemore from the 49ers.
About $12,500 has been raised for the Hollister Police Officer’s Association so far this year through the sale of ads for the commemorative program. Organizers said they are hoping for a good draw at the gate to help raise additional support.
The gym will open at 6 p.m. and the game begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $20 for adults. Kids under 10 are free.
