The lot at the corner of McCray and E. Park has been cleared of the weeds.

There were some very high weeds growing near Rancho San Justo Middle School where the train tracks end, causing an impediment for drivers, but the City of Hollister’s public works crews immediately took care of the problem.

It is that time of year when the weeds can grow to noxious levels, causing an unsightly view or obstruction for the neighbors and others driving by. The city each year compiles a list of properties with overgrown weeds and requires the owners get removed or else pay for the removal.

It is a bit early for the weed abatement program to take effect. In the case of the weeds at the intersection of East Park and McCray streets, the city took care of the problem, being it was obstructing the view of drivers there and could have caused a safety problem.
