Police Friday arrested a homeless woman on suspicion of stabbing a man with a knife in retaliation for stealing her recyclables.

Hollister police arrested Alice Nicodemus, 52, on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing.

Police allege she stabbed a male victim in the neck with a pair of scissors for stealing her cans, according to a statement from police. The man was conscious while talking to medical responders and was airlifted to a San Jose hospital with injuries, though his current condition is unknown.

At about 4:40 p.m. Friday, dispatchers received a call of a man that had just been stabbed in the neck on the 100 block of North Street in Hollister. Police say it was reported the suspect then hid in Ranchers Feed.

Police and sheriff’s deputies responded and arrested her, booking her at the county jail with the recommended attempted murder charge.
