Careless Hwy. 25 drivers put others at risk
I just want to thank the driver of a white Ford Excursion who
passed me on the shoulder on Wed., Feb. 23, at 2:15 p.m., heading
south into Hollister on Hwy. 25.
I drive a tractor trailer and I guess I was going too slow at 55
mph or you were just in too much of a hurry in order to stay behind
me like everyone else did.

When CalTrans had the median barriers installed, I knew it was just a waste of money. Hwy. 25 is NOT an unsafe roadway. It’s the unsafe drivers on it that put their lives and people’s lives around them at risk every time they get behind their wheel.
This incident isn’t the first time I’ve been passed on the right shoulder. We need more CHP patrols on Hwy. 25, preferably motorcycle officers. Being a commercial driver, I can’t go to traffic school if I receive a citation. Why? I guess it’s because truck drivers are professionals and we’re not allowed to make mistakes. I don’t and can’t understand why people with class B and C licenses are allowed to attend traffic school. For the most part, they are most dangerous on the road.
All I ask from car drivers is please, please don’t cut us off and then stop in front of us. We can’t stop as fast as you can, even though we have more brakes. And when entering a freeway, remember, we HAVE to be in the right lane or we will get a ticket. Please either slow down or speed up in order for us not to have slam on our brakes when you cut us off.
