After competing in the San Benito County district spelling bee,
four students will represent the county at the state finals.
After competing in the San Benito County district spelling bee, four students will represent the county at the state finals.

In the junior high division, Amy Cruz, of Marguerite Maze Middle School, took first place, with Brandon Burchard, of Southside School, took second place. Both are in seventh grade. Cam Burchard, of Southside, came in third, while Oriana Castillo, of Southside, took fourth place.

In the elementary school division, Abby Greene, of Tres Pinos School, took first place. Jerimya Beltran, of Lass Lane, took second place. Emily Brewen, of Bitterwater Tully, took third place, while Karina Collins, of Spring Grove School, took fourth place.

The judges for the competition were Zoe O’Connor, Eric Johnson, Deborah Harter, Bria Valderrama and Michael O’Connor. Kim O’Connor coordinated the spelling bee event.
