Hollister police are investigating two sexual assault or attempted sexual battery cases reported in northwest Hollister.
The first incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at a laundromat in the 1300 block of San Juan Road. A woman reported a man approached her “and attempted to grab her breast and buttocks,” according to a statement, which adds that the woman pushed the man away and he left the area.
The woman described him as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, black curly hair and a beard. He wore a black shirt and gray pants, and appeared intoxicated.
The following day at about 4:30 a.m., another woman reported she was walking near Miller Road and Central Avenue when a man approached her, touched her buttocks and hugged her, according to police. She struggled and pulled away, telling him she would call the police and causing him to run eastbound on Miller Road. She told police she had seen the man near the San Juan Road laundromat.
She described him as Hispanic, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a think build, medium complexion and mustache, according to police. She said he was wearing blue shorts, black shoes and a gray shirt, and said he appeared under the influence of narcotics.
Police believe the suspect in the two cases might be the same person, considering the proximity and similarity in the incidents.
Police noted that both reports were made at least 14 hours after the reported incidents, and that searches of the area did not result in any leads.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. George Ramirez at (831) 636-4330 or anonymously to WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME.
