Gavilan College/YMCA venture a great idea
The potential proposal sounds promising for the construction of
Gavilan College facilities in close proximity to the YMCA on the
former Leatherback property. We would hope that the City of
Hollister would be willing to strongly consider approving such a
plan. The programs offered at the YMCA and Gavilan college would
complement each other, providing benefits to all of the community
from students to senior citizens. The potential to link the two new
facilities to downtown San Benito Street and the Briggs building
would be a great stimulus for the inner city. To bring these two
pillars of the community together would greatly enhance the
development of downtown Hollister.
