Eye Candy fashion show

The Junior League of San Jose will host the 16th biennial fashion show entitled “Eye Candy” March 5 and 6 at the Fairmont Hotel, 170 S. Market St., in San Jose. The proceeds of the show will be used to invest in projects that build a better community and help young children enter elementary school ready to learn. Attendees will preview the latest spring fashions by local and national designers, including Azadeh, a local designer who won “best dress” from SFGate’s Gown Poll at the San Francisco Ballet. Other designs include Anne Fontaine, Brooks Brothers, The Blues Jean Bar, Cache, Cole Haan, Donald J Pliner, Eli Thomas, Foot Candy, Macy’s and Ted Baker. “Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding” is playing Friday and Saturday nights at the Swiss Louis Italian and Seafood Restaurant at Pier 39 in San Francisco, at 7 p.m. The show is an interactive comedy where the audience members play the roles of invited guests at a wedding. Southside Nights

The Southside School Parents’ Club is hosting its second annual Southside Nights Fundraiser March 6, from 5 p.m. to midnight, at Bolado Park. No-host cocktail and auction preview will be 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by dancing and a live auction. St. Patrick’s Dinner Dance

There will be a St. Patrick’s Dinner Dance sponsored by Hollister ICF Branch 26 on March 6 at Sacred Heart O’Reilly Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Appetizers will be at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. Corned beef will be served with all fixings and desserts. Rummage sale and car wash

The Young Women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be holding a rummage sale and car wash to raise money to attend a girls camp at the Sunnyslope Medical Center, on the corner of Sunnyslope Road and Memorial Drive, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 6. ‘Path of the Padres’

The “Path of the Padres” hikes will be held on some Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays starting on Feb. 27 and will continue through April 18. The hikes are open to the public, ages 6 years and older by advance reservation only. School group hikes may be arranged during the week. School group reservations and general public reservations are now open. At least 10 people must be involved in the hike to be able to conduct a tour. The hike begins at the Los Banos Creek Reservoir boat launch ramp at 8 a.m. and returns to the ramp at about 3:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call (209)-826-1197 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be a reservation fee of $12 per person 12 years old, and $7 per child age 6-12. Coyote Creek bird walk

A series of bird walks led by Jane Haley, a National Park Service docent for 20 years and a Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center volunteer, will continue March 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. along Coyote Creek, north of Morgan Hill. Monterey museum of art lecture

The Friends of the Museum will present an illustrated lecture by California artist Tom Holland at the MMA La Mirada on March 10. Tom Holland has been painting for over fifty years and his work is included in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Los Angeles County Art Museum, the SAN Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Red Cross offers free CPR classes

The American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter is offering free CPR classes on Saturday, March 13 in Monterey and San Benito counties as part of national Red Cross Month. Classes will be held at the Hollister chapter office, at 357 Fifth St.; Carmel Mission, at 3080 Rio Road, in Carmel; and at the Salinas chapter office at 942 Lupin Road. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Participants can register online at www.ARCMontereyBay.org. Class sizes are limited. The local chapter of the American Red Cross also offers health and safety courses in Automated External Defibrillator, first aid, pet first aid, water safety, lifeguard training, family care giving and babysitting. A St. Patrick Sing-A-Long and potluck will be hosted at the Hacienda Valley Club House, 275 Burnett Ave., in Morgan Hill, March 14, at 5:30 p.m., for anyone who is interested in playing a musical instrument, singing along or just listening in. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting an annual Easter egg hunt at the Veterans Memorial Park, on Memorial Drive, April 3, at 1 p.m., for children ages 2 to 10. The children will be broken up into age groups in different hunting areas (ages 2-4, 5-7, and 8-10). Parents will not be allowed in the hunting area and the event starts exactly at 1 p.m. For children who do not get any eggs, there will be some available at the command post.

Los Californianos, a group for descendants whose ancestors were in California by 1848, will be meeting in San Juan Bautista from April 23-25 to host their quarterly meeting. Activities include Dr. Ruben Mendoza’s latest discoveries at the Mission, and of the State Park by Joe McMahon, a short hike on the De Anza trail with a walk-through of the Casa de Anza. ‘Treasure island’

The 2010 Forest Theater Guild’s Centennial Season will be presenting Treasure Island the play in Carmel at the Outdoor Forest Theater from May 28 to June 20. Treasure Island is a story about a band of unsavory pirates who are pitted against the young hero Jim Hawkins. The tale is told through the eyes of Hawkins aboard the Hispaniola guided by a treasure map to Treasure Island. Tickets will begin being sold in late February.
