Later work includes adding an access ramp from southbound U.S. 101 to Yerba Buena Road, and reconfiguration of the U.S. 101/Capitol Expressway interchange.
After the new funding was announced, Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese said, “Making improvements to U.S. 101 not only puts people to work and ensures that the funds stay in the area, it also puts the remaining construction phases of the project in excellent shape to compete for future transportation funding programs.”
The newly-acquired project funding comes from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which is the transportation planning and financing agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.Â
The funds contribute to construction of the first phase and also allow design on later phases of the project to proceed.
