It’s Big Week in Salinas. Are you going to be there? It’s the 100th Anniversary of the California Rodeo in Salinas so it’s sure to be a great one this year. I hear there are lots of special surprises that will be taking place during the week with lots of good entertainment and fun.

Speaking of good entertainment and fun, the groomsmen for John Rianda held an impromptu bachelor party for him last Saturday at the RS Bar Guest Ranch. I’m on the “Don’t ask, Don’t Tell” policy around here so I’m just assuming there was lots of fun and entertainment. I do know there were a lot of tired guys around South County the days following the party! John and Kyla’s big day is right around the corner on July 31. That will be one fun wedding!

Steve Rianda branded a few calves last Tuesday at his place in Reliz Canyon. Those helping out included the Bell Family, the Sans Family and Wyatt Bourdet and Cash Robinson. We had a delicious meal at Steve and June’s house following the branding.

My condolences go out to the friends and family of Mimi Bray who passed away last week. Services were held on Tuesday in King City.

Birthday wishes go out to J.W. Brewen who celebrated his birthday on July 10. He celebrated his day at John’s bachelor party.

Blaine Strohn just returned home from Fallon, Neveda where he competed at the Silver State Invitational High School Rodeo. Blaine ended up 16th in the team roping with his partner, Doyle Hoskins, and, 16th in the tie down roping as well. Good job, Blaine!

Cheyenne Rey, Cash Robinson, Taylor and Twyster Hurley and Sierra and Brody Sans spent last Sunday in Laton at another Junior Rodeo. The kids had a great day, each winning money in their respective events. After the rodeo, David and Ellie Porteur took Cash, Sierra and Brody with them to Coalinga to David’s friend’s house where they spent a few hours in their pool to cool off before heading back home.
