Gonzalo Ramirez, Jr., 26, is charged with suspicion of murder with a special allegation of using a firearm.
Ramirez’s attorney, public defender Greg LaForge, expects the district attorney to introduce a witness at the Monday hearing, he said.
Ramirez was arrested April 20 after turning himself in, four days after the incident when a group of people opened fire on a person at Mukelemi Street in San Juan Bautista.
The sheriff’s office responded to a report of shots fired at 6:35 p.m. April 16 in San Juan Bautista. When deputies arrived they found a victim with a single gunshot wound – the person was later transported and released from a Bay Area hospital.
Witnesses reported seeing a car with four or five people inside pull up to the victim. Two of the suspects left the vehicle and shot the man before fleeing toward Highway 156. According to the sheriff’s office, at least five witnesses watched the events unfold.
The other suspects involved with the shooting have yet to be found. Anyone with more information should call Detective Sgt. Tony Lamonica at the sheriff’s office at (831) 636-4080.
