next week’s Tri-County Athletic League Tournament on Thursday with
a 14-5 victory against Carmel.

The San Benito girls water polo team sewed up the No. 2 seed in next week’s Tri-County Athletic League Tournament on Thursday with a 14-5 victory against Carmel.
Caitlin Schafer scored a team-high five goals, while both Lindsay De La Torre and Beka Torres added two goals apiece. Meanwhile, Anna Dickson, Sarina Schekenburger, Rachel Estep, Hannah Smith and Lauren Lango each contributed one goal.
Keepers Marieke Liem and Brittany Olguin split time in net for the Balers, with Liem making six saves.
San Benito is now 7-1 in the TCAL, and will be the No. 2 seed entering next week’s league tournament behind top-seeded and undefeated Gilroy.
Although times and locations for each match have yet to have been announced, San Benito is expecting to square off against Santa Catalina in the first round of the TCAL Tournament.
SBHS Boys Water Polo
The San Benito boys water polo team closed out the Tri-County Athletic League regular season Thursday with a 14-11 victory against Christopher High at Gavilan College in Gilroy.
The Balers are now 7-2 in the TCAL, 13-10 overall.
Head coach Tom Agan said everyone on the Balers pocketed a goal, including keeper Trevor Agan, who deposited two scores.
Agan was pulled from net at halftime, with San Benito leading 7-4. Nick Angulo and Pat Maguire split time in the cage in the second half.
Before the Balers kick off next week’s TCAL Tournament, the team will compete in the Monta Vista Invitational.
San Benito will square off against Woodside on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and will return Saturday for matches against Fremont at 10:10 a.m., and Los Gatos at 3:30 p.m.
All three matches will be held at Los Gatos High.
