Hollister police officers stopped a car that was speeding on Monterey Street and arrested the three occupants for various charges, according to an announcement from the police department.
A Hollister officer was on routine patrol at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 31 when he observed a dark-colored Honda Civic speeding on Monterey Street and was able to make the vehicle’s driver, Nathaniel Garza, 21, stop in Wentz Alley near West Street.
According to the announcement:
Nathaniel displayed symptoms of intoxication. He was eventually placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving a vehicle with false registration tabs.
One of the passengers, Bryan Matthew Garza, 22, had four warrants for his arrest and also had a concealed switchblade knife in his possession. He was arrested for the arrest warrants and the illegal knife.
The third passenger Everet Copado, 20, was also displaying signs of intoxication and was surrounded with open and closed beer cans. He was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol.
All three suspects were transported to the San Benito County Jail and booked for the various charges.
