Malicious setting fire, Sunset Drive

An unknown suspect attempted to shove a sock – soaked in an accelerant – in the gas tank of a vehicle on the 1200 block of Sunset Drive. Police said that due to the car’s design, the sock and accelerant burned up and did not cause the car to explode. The incident occurred at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday. No suspect information was available.

Vandalism, Nash Road

At 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, a dog damaged a fence and got into the neighbor’s yard on the 100 block of Nash Road. Police said the case was forwarded to Hollister Animal Control and they will follow up with the dog’s owner, a 44-year-old Hollister resident.

Malicious setting fire, Cerra Vista Drive

At 3 p.m. on Feb. 13, police were dispatched to Cerra Vista School on the 2100 block of Cerra Vista Drive on a vandalism report. Police said that an unknown suspect started a fire in the girls’ restroom over the holiday weekend.

Annoying phone calls, San Benito Street

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, police received a call from the victim of annoying phone calls on the 1100 block of San Benito Street. The victim said he received a phone call from a suspect advising that he watch his vehicle. The victim took this as a threat to his vehicle and called the police wanting to file harassment charges. He received three other harassing phone calls. The case was forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

ARRESTS

Obstruction, East Street

After pulling over a car and arresting the driver for drunk driving, Police arrested a 41-year-old Hollister woman for obstruction on the 500 block of East Street near the intersection with Sixth Street. At 11:08 p.m. on Friday, after the driver had been arrested, the suspect refused to get out of the car and gave a false I.D. to police. She was arrested and booked at the county jail.

Possession of a controlled substance, Memorial Drive

At 2:27 a.m. on Friday, police stopped a car for unsafe speed on the 1400 block of Memorial Drive. Police found that the driver, a 19-year-old Hollister resident, was operating with restrictions to his license and was also found to be in possession of marijuana. The suspect was arrested and booked into the county jail for possession of a controlled substance, driving at an unsafe speed, driving on a restricted license and a driver being in possession of marijuana.
