Fun in the Arizona sun during spring training
I hope you all had a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day last week
and I hope you didn’t forget to wear your green! Speaking of green,
it sure is green around South County these days. We had another
nice, little shot of rain over the weekend and it sure helped the
grass stay nice and green.

I hope you all had a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day last week and I hope you didn’t forget to wear your green! Speaking of green, it sure is green around South County these days. We had another nice, little shot of rain over the weekend and it sure helped the grass stay nice and green.

The kids and I just returned home from a weekend away with my parents in Phoenix. My parents go there each year to watch some spring training baseball games. This year they took all of us along. I could get used to living in that area. It was so pretty and the weather was beautiful. Of course, it was only March. I’m sure it gets blistering hot there in the middle of the summer!

While there, we watched three baseball games and one basketball game. We saw the A’s vs. the Indians on Friday afternoon; the Giants vs. the Padres on Saturday afternoon; the Phoenix Suns vs. the Washington Wizards basketball game on Saturday night; and the A’s vs. the White Sox on Sunday afternoon. It was a busy, busy weekend but we had a great time.

While at the Giants game, I ran into South County resident Lisa Smith who was there with her cousins and Kathy Spencer. The kids got lots of autographs and saw a lot of big-name players up close. They saw Randy Johnson, Jim Thomme, Jermaine Dye, David Eckstein and Barry Zito, just to name a few. If you’re a baseball fan, you definitely need to go to spring training at least once in your lifetime. It was a great experience that we will look forward to doing again many more times.

While we were basking in the sun in Arizona, South County was showered with some rain. Vern and Jo Ann Scattini received a half an inch, John Rianda at the Rock Springs Ranch reported three-quarters and we received about 0.35 hundredths at our place.
