HOLLISTER
Hollister police are in search of a local man, who in the past month has twice evaded police in a vehicle and on foot, for both felony and misdemeanor charges, according to a press release from the department.
Johnny Orozco, 40, has been involved with two incidents with police this month, according to police. The first happened on Aug. 5 when officers attempted to stop Orozco. He didn’t stop and led police on a vehicle pursuit throughout Hollister, police allege. The release said that he had “driven recklessly” through town and police were forced to follow at a distance as to avoid driving in a similar manner.
During the pursuit, police allege Orozco stopped his vehicle and took off on foot, evading officers but not before they positively identified the suspect, according to the release.
Police allege the second incident occurred on Thursday when Orozco led police on another high-speed pursuit through the city. Much like the first time, they say he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. The release said he was jumping over fences in the 1600 block of Clearview Drive and an officer sustained an injury in the foot pursuit.
Again, he eluded Hollister police officers and remains at large. He is wanted for several misdemeanors and felony warrants, including new felony charges stemming from these incidents.
Police describe Orozco as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds and with numerous tattoos on his torso and arms. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Police are requesting that any citizen who knows of Orozco’s whereabouts call 911 immediately and do not attempt to apprehend him yourself. He has shown reckless disregard for public safety and extreme desperation to avoid capture. He should be considered dangerous.
If you have information on the whereabouts of Orozco, call the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330 or you can remain anonymous and call WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME.
