The San Benito County Office of Education named classified staff of the year for the first time Thursday evening in the chambers of the county administrative office building.
“It was a wonderful night, and the County Office of Education looks forward to continuing this event annually,” wrote County Superintendent Krystal Lomanto in an email to the Free Lance.
Lomanto and the county office’s board of trustees honored the employees with certificates and an ice chest stuffed with a bottle of water, a granola bar and a book. The employees also received certificates from the City of Hollister, Congressman Sam Farr and Assemblyman Luis Alejo.
“Our classified employees are such an essential part of any successful school and it was a pleasure honoring them last night,” Lomanto wrote.
Employees were nominated by their school, which provided a short summary explaining why the person was selected.
