City officials are considering the possibility of leasing a lot next to the Briggs Building as a temporary fire station during reconstruction at the Fifth Street location near downtown.
The Hollister City Council, sitting as the Redevelopment Agency Board, on Monday is set to consider allocating $60,000 in rent for the first year’s use of the lot at 375 Fourth St., according to a staff report for the 6:30 p.m. meeting at Hollister City Hall, 375 Fifth St.
The city has started work on plans for a $5 million reconstruction of the downtown fire station at 110 Fifth St. Planners are in the design phase right now, with WLC Architects doing the work.
While Hollister would lease the lot from Greenwood Chevrolet, the precise set-up for the fire station space on Fourth Street is unclear at this point. Chow said those details have not been ironed out yet.
Neither dealership owner Marty Greenwood nor Fire Chief Fred Cheshire could be reached immediately before publication.
