Nathan Winn’s 54 over 13 holes helps lead ‘Balers to
second-place finish
The San Benito golf team posted second-place scores for the second Tri-County Athletic League meet in a row, as they compiled a 290 Monday at the Corral De Tierra Country Club in Salinas.
Palma finished first with a 270, while Salinas took third with a 293. Gilroy was fourth with a 310, Alvarez fifth with a 331 and Alisal sixth with a 357.
“They came in second, so I can’t be displeased with them,” coach Sal Felice said. “But they’re capable of better numbers – all of them are.”
Playing 13 holes, including holes 1 through 9 and 10, 11, 12 and 17, Nathan Winn led San Benito with a 4-over 54 Monday. Will Cross shot a 57 and Derell Aton carded a 58. Said Felice, “I’m really proud of Derell. He worked hard.”
Joey Amaral also shot a 58, while Marcus Synegal recorded a 63 to round out San Benito. Justin Palmquist came in with a 65.
The ‘Balers will return Wednesday in the Santa Teresa Invite at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister. Tee time is 12 p.m.
