Now that the election is over I am so sure not everybody is
satisfied with the results. It is a great pleasure to be an
American
– we don’t have to leave our homes to know what is going on.
After all the friction, debates, opinions not only from the
candidates, but the media that is most effective in the public in
general. It is amazing going through all this without starting a
war. It is good to see our system still worki
ng. We have been hearing so many promises from both sides that
it will be impossible for either one to carry through on these
promises.

Now that the election is over I am so sure not everybody is satisfied with the results. It is a great pleasure to be an American – we don’t have to leave our homes to know what is going on. After all the friction, debates, opinions not only from the candidates, but the media that is most effective in the public in general. It is amazing going through all this without starting a war. It is good to see our system still working. We have been hearing so many promises from both sides that it will be impossible for either one to carry through on these promises.
I feel this is not a job only for one man. We might have a chance if all parties united together, if all people join hands, if we all take responsibility there is a chance things may be better four years from now. Our country and all the world is in big trouble, on the verge to collapse if we don’t wake up. In my opinion the world and our country’s downfalls are mostly caused by criminals, crooks, gangs, boozing, and don’t forget the lazy ones. And I would like to add the greedy ones that might touch almost all of us. It is sad to see things go this far.
There is and old saying that when your stomach gets empty it signals the legs to move and that goes for everything that is alive. The thing that I find wrong is that neither one of the candidates come with John F. Kennedy’s ideas. In his inauguration speech he said “Don’t ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
We go no place with promises; instead if we make people responsible things may be more successful. We have the ones that you don’t have to tell what to do, the ones that work hard to see things succeed. The ones that only believe in promises are the ones that don’t like any responsibility. A hotshot won’t be enough to make them move. This is only my opinion.

Visitor would like to thank those who offered help
Dear Editor:
On the evening of Sunday, October 26, 2008, we experienced a complete power failure in our vehicle at the signal light, San Felipe Road and Route 156. With the help of another motorist we were able to push our vehicle to the side and out of traffic. Not a pleasant experience.
The purpose of this letter is to commend the City of Hollister for being such a caring community and to say thank you specifically to those citizens who went out of their way on a Sunday evening to help a stranger.
Jesse, the tow truck operator from the Ford Agency who AAA sent out. Jesse expertly picked up our vehicle, brought us into town and deposited the vehicle at a repair facility. He then delivered us, two adults plus two small dogs, to Jerry’s Restaurant. Jesse was courteous, helpful and a darn good tow truck operator.
The manager and personnel at Jerry’s Restaurant who allowed us to bring our two little dogs into the restaurant, served us coffee and tea while we were trying to figure out what to do next. They were wonderful.
A patron in Jerry’s, I do not recall his name, who listened to our problem and offered to help us as soon as he got off work later in the evening. Thank you sir.
Steve Gularte and his son Joe, one of the owners of G&M Auto, opened the shop, diagnosed the problem with our vehicle (battery failure), transported me and a replacement battery to the area where the vehicle was parked, installed the new battery after which we drove the vehicle to his shop were using his diagnostic equipment he determined that the alternator and engine performance were all operating correctly and that we could safely resume our journey. Clearly above and beyond.
Rarely have we been so well treated by friendly, compassionate and caring people … and we want to say thank you! We have a warm spot in our hearts for the city of Hollister.
