Hollister – The Hollister School District board voted Tuesday to join the San Benito High School and North County Union school districts in adopting a new math curriculum.

The district now plans to apply for a grant to help implement the new instructional program, which is intended to unify the math curriculum from the elementary to the high school level in San Benito County schools.

“We are very excited to be working with the high school,” said HSD Superintendent Ron Crates.

Crates said he hopes the coordinated math curriculum will be just one of many programs that would involve cooperation between the elementary and high school districts.

Administrators at all three districts are hoping that the new initiative will result in an increase in the state standardized test scores in math.
