Hollister – Police believe a gunshot was fired from a car driven by Sureño gang members in front of a home on Park Street Wednesday night.

The Hollister Police Department received an anonymous call from a girl who said that Sureño gang members had fired a single shot from a red Saturn near Park and Sherwood Drive at about 8pm Wednesday, said Officer Rosie Betanio, a spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department.

Betanio said the girl’s brothers were playing in the front yard of the home at the time of the gunfire. The shooting did not hit anything, she said.

The girl is a San Andreas High School student, but would not give her name or age, police said.

Officers said a red Saturn had driven by San Andreas High School earlier in the day, Betanio said. Occupants of the car flashed gang signs at students leaving campus, she said.

Betanio said Friday that police are investigating leads, but she would not reveal information about any suspects.
