Fuel Theft a Blow to Nonprofit
Editor,
The price of gas has finally gotten to the point where people are now siphoning gas from vehicles left outside.
Saturday morning, it was discovered that the Community Pantry van at 1133 San Felipe was vandalized and gas was siphoned from the vehicle.
Community Pantry is a “not for profit” organization. It depends on donations and volunteers to provide supplemental food for folks on the lower economical scale. The theft of the fuel is a “below the belt” shock to the organization. Stooping to steal gasoline from a nonprofit organization like Community Pantry deprives folks of food that is needed to fill the bags distributed each week. Shame on the miscreants who did this dastardly deed.

Hollister Should Commend its Brave, Hardworking Firefighters
Editor,
The City of Hollister should be really proud of all the firemen that were at the fire on Victoria Street on May 29. They are so short-handed – they only had 17 there plus the three that came to help them – but they did a tremendous job. I want to commend the work they did, especially the three guys who were hurt. Without guys like that they could have lost that whole block within minutes. They should really be taken care of and commended, and people should get more help for them.
