First, belated birthday wishes go out to my good friend Cynnie O’Connor who celebrated her birthday way back on March 30th. The good friend that I am forgot to write about her birthday back then, so, here’s what she did to celebrate! Holly Casey hosted a birthday luncheon in Cynnie’s honor at her place on March 30th. Those stopping by to wish Cynnie well included: Sami Jo Johnsen, Karen Benedix, Peggy Casey, Kanani Barbree, Kuulei Flores and Julie Conatser. That evening, Cynnie and her Mom Kuulei went to see a play at King City High School. Happy Belated Birthday Cynnie, I didn’t forget about you!!!

Get well soon wishes go out to Kuulei Flores who had a knee replacement surgery last Friday in Salinas, where she will be for at least another week during her time of recovery. Her surgery went well and she’s having a fine time with all of her doctors and nurses. If you know Kuulei, you’ll understand what I’m talking about!

Baseball season at all levels are in full swing these days, despite the rainy weather and all of the delayed games, Bitterwater Tully alumni Shane O’Connor and Juan Mendoza are having great seasons for the King City High Mustangs. Shane is hitting with a .500 average in the MTAL league so far, while Juan remains the number one pitcher and one of its top hitters as well.

J.D. Donham spent a week in Colorado with son John Henry. John stayed in Colorado during his spring break to play ball with his high school baseball team so J.D. flew back to see him for a week and to take in some of John’s games. J.D. picked a great week to go as John hit his first high school career home run while Dad was in town. I’m sure it made J.D. very proud. John will be back home for the summer in June.

The Salinas Valley Fairgrounds was busy with functions all weekend long as once again the Rava Indoor Arena was being utilized again. The West Coast Junior Rodeo Association hosted their first rodeo on the season last Sunday at the arena. Some of those participating from South County included: Lauren Davis, Ashlee and Joey Jansen, Cheyenne Rey, Bailee Nelson, Megan and Kristy Melton, Katie Harris, Dreux Clark, Megan Cheney, Kenna and Kylie Barrett and Sierra Jo Sans.

The Fair Kick-Off Dinner was also held last weekend as well. The event was held at the Orradre Building at the fairgrounds and they had a huge turnout, even more than they had anticipated. The dinner was delicious and it was followed by a live and silent auction, then, dancing to the band Crossroads. It was a very fun evening and a fun way to kick off the fair season.

Bitterwater Tully School and Jefferson School had a combined Easter Party/hot lunch last Friday at the San Lorenzo Park in King City. There were over 60 kids in attendance as well as their younger siblings and parents. The weather cooperated nicely and everyone had a great time.

Until next week, have a wonderful Easter, and, if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected]
