Editor,
The politicians in this county take the cake.
First the San Juan Bautista council is going to cost the city money for our water woes, just so they can flex their small-town political muscle. Now we get to see the county doing the same thing. “Let’s show these big city folks that we have power too!”
The VTA and Santa Clara County are coming in with proposals that seem practical and cost-efficient, and that can save lives, but we want more environmental impact studies, which will cost more money and risk more lives because of the delay.
The supervisors cannot make the argument that lives may be at risk on San Benito county roads because of increased traffic, because the excuse they gave was the cost of maintaining the roads, not safety concerns. Isn’t one life worth the cost of repairing a worn road?
“Look at me! I am a big important supervisor in an obscure little town that nobody gives a flip about! I will cause our neighbor some grief just because I can!”
John Nelson, San Juan Bautista
