George C. Dittbrenner died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 10 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister. He was 60.

He was born in New York and came to San Benito County 36 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era.

He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed Saturday morning visits with his friends and loved spending time with his granddaughter, Summer.

He worked as a tractor mechanic for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Barbara L. Dittbrenner, his daughter Sara R. Blomquist and her husband Eric, and granddaughter Summer, all of Hollister; his mother Mildred Dittbrenner and brother Gerald Dittbrenner of New York; and three nieces.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Grace Bible Church, located at 634 Monterey St., in Hollister.

A private graveside service will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.

Contributions are preferred to a benevolent fund in care of Grace Bible Church in lieu of flowers.
