San Benito was able to pull away in the fourth quarter, hitting several big free throws and three pointers down the stretch to go on a 17-12 run.
“The team played a good second half,” said Baler coach David Kaplansky. “It was nice because we got a good balance of scoring.”
The Balers finished up the preseason at 11-5 but could have easily been at 14-2 after losing three games by a combined total of seven points.
“Hopefully, we have learned some things about close games so we have that experience going into league,” Kaplansky said. “Live Oak is playing well right now. We need to match their intensity level, especially at the beginning of the game in their home environment.”
