Bethany Ellison, Delaney McKinney and Taylor Aubrey, who live in Aromas and compete on the Monterey Bay synchronized swim team, placed high in their events during a recent competition in San Jose.

McKinney, a first-year swimmer, won a second-place medal in her novice routine with five other young athletes. Aubrey received a first-place medal in her novice division team routine.

Ellison, who swims for Anzar High, won a second-place medal for her solo event and a first place medal with her partner, Alana Lucas from Salinas.

Their duet was the highest scoring event of the entire meet.

Ellison is preparing for an upcoming meet to qualify to go to an Age Group Nationals meet in Indianapolis this summer.
