Dear Editor:

In Tuesday’s editorial about the ROTC instructor, Naval Junior ROTC Chief William Stratmann, the Free Lance pleaded “The Public’s Right to Know.”

Too bad you don’t practice what you preach. I read letter after anonymous letter in your libelous “Citizens Voice” attacking my friend District Attorney John Sarsfield, but because you don’t give the public the right to know who writes these letters, one cannot tell if they are the screed of a small gang of losers and malcontents, or whether they reflect a more wide-spread opinion. The public has the right to know.

Providing a vehicle for unsigned denunciations is Media McCarthyism as practiced by graduators of the Joseph Goebbels School of Journalism.
