The Hollister Aftershox 9U travelling baseball team advanced to
the semifinals of last weekend’s tournament at Twin Creeks in
Sunnyvale.
The Hollister Aftershox 9U travelling baseball team advanced to the semifinals of last weekend’s tournament at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale.
Representing Hollister Baseball Academy and comprised of Little Leaguers from the Triple A and Double A levels, the Aftershox batted .381 as a team to advance to the playoff round.
Sandwiched between losses to the Tara Hills All-Stars, the Aftershox beat the Los Gatos Jaguars 10-9, were edged by the Los Altos Mustangs 10-9 and beat the Delta Dawgs 11-7.
Jacob Tonascia had six hits in two games for Hollister and batted .750 in the tournament. He also had six strikeouts in three innings of pitching on Sunday.
Michael Breen batted .714 for the Aftershox with 10 hits in 14 at-bats. He struck out nine in six innings of pitching over the weekend. Richie Beltran batted .615 and struck out 14 batters.
First baseman David Achen batted .385 for Hollister, while Dalan Hoskins and Robert Soto each hit .357. Hoskins pitched in three games, including both of the team’s victories, while Soto had four strikeouts and gave up just four hits in four innings of pitching.
Danny Bravo had three hits and scored three runs for the Aftershox and pitched two innings on Sunday. Justin Patterson, Dylan Ito and Cole Daniel had hits for Hollister, and Eric Tomasetti scored a run and played the outfield for Hollister.
