BURGLARY:
Unknown suspects broke into a silver 2002 Mitsubishi in the 900 block of Monterey Street sometime on Monday or Tuesday between 10pm and 8pm and stole $1,500 in stereo equipment, police said. There was no forced entry because the owner of the car dropped the keys next to the car and didn’t realize it, police said.
THEFT:
Krisna Canseco, 24, of 141 East St. in Hollister, was cited by Hollister police for stealing Martha Stewart drapes from Kmart, a misdemeanor, at 2pm on Tuesday, police said.
VEHICLE THEFT:
Jerome Bently Thomas, 21, of San Jose, was arrested by the CHP for driving a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property and possession of illegal nunchuks, felonies, resisting arrest and driving under the influence of drugs, misdemeanors, at 4:25pm on Highway 101, south of Highway 129 on Friday, police said. The stolen Toyota van was parked on the shoulder, and when the officer pulled over to assist what he believed was a stranded motorist, he discovered the van was stolen and attempted to arrest Thomas, police said. Thomas ran, but after a short foot pursuit the officer apprehended him, police said.
POSSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT MONEY:
Maria Trinidad Gonzalez, 26, of Freedom, Calif., and David Ray Hernandez, 24, of 1001 Sunset Dr. in Hollister, were arrested by Hollister police for possession of counterfeit money, a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and giving a false name to police, misdemeanors, on the corner of South and McCray streets at 1:57am on Tuesday, police said. Hernandez was also arrested for parole violation, a felony, police said.
POSSESSION OF DRUGS FOR SALE:
Andrew T. Lanford, 19, of 1120 Powell St. in Hollister, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for possession of .92 grams of methamphetamine for sale, a felony, being under the influence of a controlled substance, trespassing and resisting arrest, misdemeanors, at 11:35pm on Sunday, police said. After deputies found Lanford on the roof of a building at 1500 Nash Road he jumped down and ran from police, but was finally apprehended and taken into custody, police said.
USE OF EXPLOSIVE DEVICE:
Unknown suspects detonated some type of cylinder-shaped homemade explosive device in the street in the 100 block of San Tropez Drive around 9:35pm Tuesday, police said. No one was injured and nothing was damaged, police said.
All those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
