Josh Badillo had a breakout game Friday as the Hollister High baseballers bested visited Palma 9-6.
Badillo, the Balers’ leadoff hitter, belted a home run on the fourth pitch he saw in the bottom of the first. He added three more hits and scored three of the Balers’ runs.
Nathan Rowe (6-2) pitched the whole game for the Balers (13-4, 8-2 Tri-County Athletic League) and had a double and tallied two runs. Eric Diaz Jr. was 1-3 with two runs scored, while Gordon Ross, who walked three times and had an RBI single, scored two runs, as well.
“It was a sloppy win, but we’ll take it,” said Baler head coach Neal Andrade.
Hollister was supposed to play Hillsdale on Saturday in the first round of the Lions Tournament, but it was postponed due to rain. The Balers are at Monta Vista in Cupertino today at 3:30 p.m., pending the weather as the Lions Tourney tries to forge ahead.
