Maria is the daughter of Raul and Joveta Alvarez of Watsonville and John is the son of Jose and the late Anita Martinez of Hollister.
Maria wore an elegant and “very nice” wedding dress, and Sylvia Marcus and Monica Garcia were the matron of honors.
Jaime Garcia and Tony Marcus were best man and usher.
Flower girls for the special day were Andrya, Erica, Sylvia and Rosita, and the ring bearer was Raul Suarez.
The held a reception for 500 guests in Santa Cruz before honeymooning in Las Vegas.
Maria is working toward her certified medical assistant license and John is an assistant manager with Wal-Mart.
The couple became engaged on Feb. 14, 2003.
