Juan G. Chavez died Sunday, Nov. 23 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital due to a sudden illness. He was 28.

He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. He lived in San Benito County for 10 years and was employed by San Benito Heating and Sheet Metal. He attended Sacred Heart/St. Benedict’s Church and was married to his wife, Nina, in 2001 in Hollister.

He grew up and attended school in Mexico prior to coming to California.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Chavez of Hollister; parents Jesus and Lucina Chavez of Mexico; father-in-law and his wife Robert and Ariceli Rodriguez of Hollister; mother-in-law Maria DelReal of Hollister; brothers and sisters Rene Chavez of Colorado, Jesus Chavez of Mexico, Maricela Chavez of Mexico and Lulu Chavez of Mexico; brothers and sisters-in-law Priscilla Rodriguez, James Rodriguez, Giselle DelReal, Ryan Rodriguez and Jackie Rodriguez, all of Hollister. He is also survived by 5 nephews.

Friends can pay their respects Tuesday, Nov. 25 from noon to 9 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rosary will be at 7 p.m.

Friends and family can gather at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m. and then have a procession to Sacred Heart Church where a Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Interment and graveside services will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
