Charles Keith Thompson died at his Capitola home Sunday, Dec. 21, at the age of 63.

For the past 18 years, Thompson was the CEO of Chamberlain’s Children Center in Hollister.

Thompson was a resident of Capitola since 1983. A lover of philosophy, he received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from San Jose State University. He earned a master’s degree in social science from SJSU and later earned another master’s in public administration at the University of Southern California.

Along with Chamberlain’s, Thompson served as an assistant professor at SJSU since 1972.

He is survived by his wife Joanie Thompson of Capitola; sons Steven James Thompson of Santa Cruz and Brian Keith Thompson of Capitola; brother Dennis Thompson of Twain Harte, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz beginning at 11 a.m. The family prefers that remembrances be made to Chamberlain’s Children Center, P.O. Box 1269, Hollister.
