I am currently a senior at San Benito High School and I was on
student council with P.J. Galvan last year. I, along with the rest
of the school, am experiencing a great loss in this tragedy.
Although I did not myself personally know Omar De La Cruz, I was
outraged that a respected newspaper such as the Free Lance would
publish a minor’s name, even if it was a high school source who
gave it to you.

You might as well have said “Omar De La Cruz killed P.J. Galvan and Matt Lopez.” And while you’re at it, why not give out his street address and phone number? Would you publish that information if a “high school source” gave it to you?

It’s a shame that at such a sad and depressing time that reporters such as yourself are out there just to get the story to sell more papers.

Maybe next time you should have the decency not to publish a minor’s name.

Thank you for your time.
